Charleston/Miami Direct Flights!
Miami-bound air travelers can fly directly from Charleston beginning this fall. While that’s convenient for vacationers headed to the Sunshine State, it’s also good for the Lowcountry economy.
American Eagle, a regional partner of American Airlines, announced Monday plans to launch daily nonstop service to Miami starting Nov. 19. The new flights will use 50-passenger jets.
Helen Hill, director of the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, said other carriers previously flew to South Florida directly but that Charleston International Airport currently lacks that service. And Floridians rank high in Charleston tourism.
“Florida has always been among the top five states for visitation, so this new service is outstanding for us,” Hill said. “It’s a great market, and we’re thrilled American Airlines has decided to do it.”
The new service offers travelers connections in Miami to 14 cities in Florida, the Caribbean, the Bahamas and Latin America, according to American Eagle officials.
