CYRK: THE POLISH CIRCUS
The Golden Age of Polish posters ran for about 40 years, from the end of World War II up through the fall of Communism in Poland in 1989.
During this time, while artistic censorship was high within the country, the government was dedicated to supporting high-quality poster art. Many of these posters were created for the Polish circus (CYRK). However, rather than advertise a particular troupe or act, in response to the censorship laws, a visual language soon emerged within these posters which spoke out against their Russian oppressors.
