Jo Mora effectively uses humor to display the landmarks and activities of the valley. Note he has a cloud resting on an easy chair to represent \”Clouds Rest\” and a bishop is straddling the Cathedral Spires. In the words of Mora himself, \”There is so much of Grandeur and reverential Solemnity to Yosemite that a bit of humor may help the better to happily reconcile ourselves to the triviality of Man.
The work is dedicated to Stephen T. Mather, first Director of the U.S. National Park Service and a personal friend of Mora.
