Paul Rand (1914-1996) was one of the first American artists to emulate the Swiss Style of graphic design, becoming well known for his corporate logos, including those for ABC, Westinghouse, UPS, Enron, and Steve Jobs’ NeXT. This poster, the “Eye-Bee-M” piece, was created in 1981 to promote IMB’s motto, THINK. It features a type of world puzzle known as a rebus that uses pictures to represent words. At the bottom left is printed: an Eye for perception, insight, vision; a Bee for industriousness, dedication, perseverance; an “M” for motivation, merit and moral strength.
